Since the release of her full-length solo debut, As Sure As the Sun, in 2014, singer/songwriter Ellie Holcomb has been walking an unexpected path, one of suffering and loss but also peace and joy. She has come to the edge of the rushing river of confusion and experienced a God who made a way where there seemed to be no way.  

And it is from that place—of finding God in the dark and unexpected—that Holcomb wrote and recorded Red Sea Road (Full Heart Music), set to release Jan 27th, 2017. 

“I think my first record was probably more help my unbelief,” says Holcomb. “But I think this one would be more I’m surprised and delighted to say that God is faithful…I know that’s true more than I did a year or two ago.”

Happy Easter! The tomb is empty. Death is undone. So much to celebrate today, including our precious baby being baptized at the sunrise service. What a beautiful thing to see the light of the sun breaking through the darkness on Easter morning! Thankful for the light of Christ , and praying you know you are loved and surrounded by that Light today. So thankful for our family , many of whom were able to come celebrate with us ! And for some real life, swipe left to see the last “formal” picture we tried taking as a family of five! 😂💛
“He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”⁣ -Isaiah 53:3-5⁣ ⁣⁣ It’s Good Friday, and my heart always has a hard time not skipping over this day lightly knowing that on Sunday, Easter will come, but here’s the thing... in my deepest places of sorrow and ache, it is Jesus on Good Friday who has brought me the most comfort. It is the Man of Sorrows Himself, who has met me in my deepest pits of hopelessness, in my biggest messes, in my most painful wounds.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ I think that God’s answer to the suffering in this world is “Me too.” He doesn’t look down on our brokenness or our mistakes or our ache or our pain with a smug look on His face lecturing us on how we need to do better, He takes the pain upon Himself, He takes it for us so we know that we are not alone and so we can know that there is good reason to hope because suffering isn’t the end of the story. Easter is coming, but Lord don’t let me miss the power or significance of Good Friday. Thank You that You are acquainted with our grief. Looking back at pics from this week and feeling so grateful for a slower season at home. I don’t post most of my pictures of my kids , but we did take our first boat ride of the year , & it was our baby boy’s first time in a place that brings me so much joy and peace, and he LOVED it and so did I . ❤️
So fun to cheer on one of my sweet friends @annieplawrence as she celebrated the release of her new record last night ! Got to sing with her and my sister @carlybannister , & loved catching a @heystephenday song too! The photo bomb in this picture is epic & is by one of Annie’s producers , @paperswanstudios 😂❤️🙌🏼 it’s fun to celebrate other people who are making music, & last night was a sweet celebration .
