Fighting Words Friday: Singing Your Praise

I will sing of your love and justice; to You, O Lord, I will sing praise.

- Psalm 101:1

I can’t think of a more beautiful thing to sing about than the steady, sure love of God and the justice that is so close to God’s heart. It makes me think of IJM, International Justice Mission, the largest anti-trafficking group in the world, and EJI, Equal Justice Initiative, a non-profit group of lawyers committed to ending mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the U.S. as well as challenging racial and economic injustice. Standing in the gap for the marginalized, moving towards the edges of society to the people so often overlooked was in the regular rhythm of Jesus, and I’m so glad we get to see God’s heart displayed in the person of Christ, and now in so many others carrying on this mission of loving mercy and acting justly and walking humbly with God. God, show me how to be an agent of reconciliation and love in this world. Thank You that you care about justice, and for the way that Jesus stood in the gap for all of us, swallowing up death and darkness with Love and Light.
