This has been one of my favorite verses since I was in college, and it’s the anchoring verse for my song, “You Are Loved”. I LOVE this earnest prayer. I think I love it because there are so many days that I feel like I am crying out for help from the Lord. There are also days when I choose to try to muster up my own strength and go it alone, but it is always better when I pray. David writes this Psalm in the middle of serious angst. He wrote this when Saul had sent men to watch David’s house in order to kill him. He is surrounded and he is pleading with God earlier in the psalm for rescue and deliverance, but I love that these two verses are how he ends this prayer.
